The Challenge
The client, a Contract Research Organization (CRO), has a tenant who has decided to offboard from their Argus Safety System. The CRO needs to extract all of the tenant’s data and share it with them to complete the offboarding process. They have limited time of a few weeks and it is critical for the CRO to complete the process within this short time span.
Key Deliverables
- Extract all cases in SQL DUMP format
- Extraction output should include the following:
- Extraction case listing
- Extracted data in Oracle .dmp file with the following content:
- All Case Data Tables
- All ESM Data Tables
- All Configuration Tables
- All DLP Tables
- Two extracts are required at an interval of 1.5 months (one from the development environment and one from the production environment)
Our Approach (Solution)
Data extraction is a time-consuming and intensive process. With the CRO working with a tight timeline, it was always going to be a challenge to ensure timely data extraction, while achieving 100% data accuracy.
We deployed the ‘Extract’ module of our proprietary and fully automated Data Migration Tool, UltraMIG. Our team started with an impact assessment on the client brief and finalized the key deliverables. Then we configured UltraMIG as per the specific requirements of the extract and added the auto verification criteria to validate the accuracy of the extract. Once the extract was executed and verified, we created the Oracle dump file that the client required.
Whereas a manual process would have taken weeks and even months to complete, UltraMIG delivered the first extract within one week. The process being fully automated, and the tool already configured for the client, the second extract (needed by client after 1.5 months of the first one) was achieved within a few hours.
